Here are our top tips on reducing your energy usage at home
1. Energy Saving Lightbulbs
Use Energy saving light bulbs. Eash bulb last around 12 times longer than normal bulbs and use 75% less electricity. Aslo When you leave a room turn the lights off!
2. Turn Electrical Appliances off - Not onto Standby
Many of todays electrical appliances have a handy little feature called standby. Although conveniant this mode still uses a significant ammount of electricity. Remember, turn your TV off not onto standy and save money.
3. Turn your heating thermosat down
Turn your central heating thermostat temperature Down. Turing the thermostat down by 1C can save around £30 a year. You may not even notice the difference - if not try turning it down even further.
4. Only boil your kettle with as much water as you need
Your kettle uses a lot of Energy so remember to only boil as much as water as you. Make sure the element in your kettle is clean and free of lime scale, this reduces the efficency of your kettle a great deal.
5. Buy Energy Efficient Appliances
You should aim to buy ‘A’ or ‘A+’ rated electrical appliances. Your old fridge freezer may use two and a half times more electricity to power than a modern ‘A’ rated one.
6. Insulate your loft
Loft insulation acts like a blanket it traps rising heat in the house. Without loft insulation you could be losing as much as 15% of your heat through your roof.
